Chapter 18

Ryan

I wake up to the sound of Chrissy chattering away to Finn through the baby monitor. Reaching over, I turn off the monitor, and roll back in the direction of Faith, who is just starting to stir.

She stretches, and gives me a sleepy smile. I pull her against me. Burying my face against her neck, I smell her hair, taste her skin. I slide a palm down her back and give her ass a little squeeze, ready to strip her out of that goofy cotton nightgown covered in cartoon cats, and pick right back up where we left off last night.

Faith gingerly removes my hand, and leans back to grin at me. “Now don’t start that. We have church this morning, remember?”

I grumble under my breath.

“You don’t have to go, Ryan.”

“I want to go,” I say. It’s not exactly a lie. I want to go to be with her anyways. “But you’re all mine after church.”

“Sorry, I’m supposed to meet Nolan and Conner this afternoon. You’ll just have to find some other way to entertain yourself until this evening.”

A little while later, when we arrive in the kitchen, Chrissy says, “So I guess you two are shackin’ up now?”

Faith’s face goes pink, and I can’t help but laugh. “So how’s boyband?” I ask, changing the subject. “I’m a little surprised you didn’t drag him home with you again.”

“I didn’t have to drag him anywhere, and he’s still sleeping.”

I swallow back a sigh. It’s none of my business who she brings home, but I wish she’d take a minute to figure this guy out before she starts parading him around Finn.

I’m sure he’s harmless, and my nephew is still too young to understand much, but that kind of shit reminds me of the way our mom used to carry on. She dragged so many guys through that crappy, third floor apartment we lived in for years, that I eventually stopped bothering to learn their names.

Maybe I’m not being fair though. As far as I know, Chrissy hasn’t taken up with anyone since Finn’s piece of shit father ran off the second time, if you can even call him that.
